Venue Overview
The Championship course at Cottrell Resort, The Mackintosh Course is designed around the original features of the historic parkland trees. The Course boasts water features, with several doglegs and finishes with a strong Par 4 18th hole. Since its launch 30 years ago, The Mackintosh has established itself as one of Cardiff's premier courses and has matured into a tough test of golf whilst offering an enjoyable round to all levels of golfers.
The Course gets its name from past Cottrell resident, Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan. Living at Cottrell until his death in 1938, Mackintosh made his Welsh seat a centre of lavish entertainment and social gatherings.

13th Hole - Par 5 - 515 Yards - SI 9
Although not the longest of par 5's, the 13th on The Mackintosh is the perfect risk reward hole! An elevated tee can give the bigger hitters the ability to reach the dog leg left, however if you go to long, or left you will find yourself in a copse of trees with the inevitable sideways chip shot! A very well placed lake spanning 150-80 yards out from the green makes the second shot a tough one and a lay up could be required. The danger is not over then! A well guarded green with two deep bunkers and an out of bounds looking juts 30 yards over the green down a steep hill makes your approach to this par 5 not a simple one! A dangerous but attackable hole for those who wish to take it on!
